Joanna Woo, a graduate student in the JGPT, was accepted as a cohort member for the Frontiers in Stem Cells & Regeneration (SCARE) advanced research training course offered by the Marine Biological Laboratory. The purpose of SCARE is to provide a complete overview of stem cell biology and mechanisms of regeneration through exploring their therapeutic benefit. Students learned about the evolving field through lectures from key established investigators in stem cell and regeneration research, and learned laboratory-based techniques that explored a variety of different assays and model systems. The week-long course emphasized enhancing the professional development of trainees through personalized career coaching, networking sessions, and bioethics seminars.
