In March 2019, Dr. Rey Panettieri, a JGPT faculty member, was awarded a $29 million NIH grant to enhance clinical and translational research opportunities within NJ as part of the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translational Science (NJ ACTS). The grant will allow Rutgers and its partners to train the future translational science workforce; engage patients and communities; innovate processes to increase the quality of translational research; and advance the use of cutting-edge information systems. One of the initiatives of the CTSA is an intensive K-award Grant Writing Seminar series. Dr. Cody Smith, JGPT Postdoc, was selected for the 1st cohort to participate in this training as he prepares a K99/R00 application. Other JGPT faculty members including Drs. Howard Kipen, Judith Graber, and Lauren Aleksunes hold leadership roles within the CTSA.
