The Integral Charitable Foundation Research Idea Award was established to support graduate students in environmental health science. Fifth-year PharmD/PhD student Christine Kim was selected as a recipient of this award for her research investigating the molecular mechanisms of melatonin-mediated protection against vancomycin-induced kidney injury. Using RNA sequencing, her research aims to characterize NRF2-dependent gene networks regulated by melatonin to better understand the molecular pathways underlying its renoprotective effects. These funds will be used to support RNA sequencing and related research expenses.
