
Katherine (Kate) Otersen a 4th year Ph.D. student in the Rutgers Joint Graduate Program in Toxicology, recently attended the 2026 National PFAS Conference in Tucson, Arizona. The conference focused on the collaboration of scientists, community members and policy makers. Here she was able to discus with experts in the field about scientific and policy advancements surrounding PFAS. Through networking she was able to gain additional insights into her thesis work focusing on PFAS and hepatic drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters. In addition, Kate had the opportunity to discuss ongoing challenges with community members and grass-root organizations who were affected by environmental PFAS contamination. Kate is looking forward to presenting her work at the 2028 National PFAS Conference.
