This summer, Yunqi An, 5th year PhD candidate in the JGPT, interned at the Novartis, East Hanover facility. Yunqi works in the lab of Dr. Jeffrey Laskin at Rutgers. During her stay in the Cell & Gene Therapy Technical R&D department, she worked with CAR-T analytical and process development teams. She had the opportunity to learn, practice, and understand the CAR-T manufacturing process and develop analytical methods to support final product characterization. The summer internship offered many opportunities to work closely with senior and principal level scientists during drug product process development, learn how the pharmaceutical industry operates as well as network with professionals among the different departments.
